As Debbie and Eric Emms were blending their two families, they dreamed of building a business that would allow them to work together while raising their six awesome kids. They also needed some help keeping their Portland, Oregon home looking its best, but were dissatisfied by local cleaning services that often didn’t return calls, and when they did, arrived to do a sub-par job.
Knowing the value of a clean home—the peace of mind that comes with a tidy space—they had found their calling. They imagined a cleaning service that was not only head and shoulders above the rest in terms of thoroughness and quality, but that was also rooted in the values that defined their family: integrity, teamwork, and always doing your best. They wanted to provide superior customer service with employees who were as enthusiastic as they were.
That dream became a reality with the founding of Rise and Shine Cleaning Service in 2014. Debbie and Eric worked to develop uniquely specific and effective training for their cleaning technicians, so a consistent clean could be guaranteed for every customer. They also consciously created a professional atmosphere of respect and support, and by valuing their customers and employees equally, found that morale and work ethic flourished. With happy employees and happy customers, business took off, and they have never looked back.
Debbie and Eric also believe in giving back to their community. Rise and Shine Cleaning Service has been able to donate to local schools, and participates in Cleaning for a Reason, a non-profit that donates free house cleanings to women battling cancer. Rise and Shine believes that every home should be a sanctuary, and they’re honored to offer their services to cancer warriors on their journey to recovery.
