How to Declutter Your Home for the Summertime

With the summer days right around the corner it is time to look at the clutter in your home. Has clutter built up in your closets and cabinets? If so, then it is time to get organized and figure out what needs to go. However, getting rid of the clutter and organizing your home can be more work than you think. Whether clearing out a closet or organizing cabinets, your work to get your home clutter free is a process that will require time and energy.

Where to Start

Once you have decided to get the clutter in your home under control, it is important to decide where you want to start. You should also have an idea of what it is you want to do with your clutter once you begin the clearing out process. If you start in the closets of your home, making sure you have boxes or totes for old clothes, toys, or shoes would be a good start in clearing out the clutter. You may even want to label the boxes with what you plan on throwing away, putting in the attic, or giving away. After getting your closets in order, you can now shift your focus into your kitchen. Old or unused dishes, such as pots, pans, plates, or silverware can also be items placed in a box for discard if you do not plan on keeping them. After clearing your kitchen and closets of clutter, you can now go through the rest of your home and make the decision on if you want to box and keep the items that have cluttered your home or get rid of them.

What to Do With Your Clutter

Now that you have cleaned and organized every room in your house it is time to figure out what you want to do with the clutter that has invaded your home for the last year. For the old memorable that have sat and not been used for years, you can either store them in a more permanent place or make the decision to give them away. Other things such as old clothes, shoes, or dishes can also be given the same fate. Another option of decluttering your home from all of the old stuff is having a yard sale. Getting rid of all of the things that have sat around your house does not have to be clutter and junk to someone else and you can also make a little money off of the old memories and once used stuff that has grown old.
