Rushing to get chores done around the home can be helpful if your day is full of things to do, but not all chores should be rushed. Racing through some chores can either cause you to have to redo them or leave you with an unfixable mistake. While rushing through dishes is easy to do, other chores like washing your bedroom sheets quickly can either damage them or make them feel uncomfortable. Washing your sheets with any other material than recommended can also leave them in an uncomfortable state.
Different Weights
While washing bedroom sheets with other materials, like towels, may make them feel uncomfortable, drying them will be difficult as well. This is because towels and linens have different weights. Towels that are thicker and heavier would require more drying while bedroom sheets would dry quicker and would not require as much drying as towels.
Made From Different Materials
When looking at towels and linens, it is obvious they are made not just in different thicknesses but in different materials as well. Towels tend to produce more lint, especially if they are new and if drying with sheets, the sheets may become itchy. This is why it is important to leave the sheets and towels separate when drying.
Hot Temperature Needed For Towels
While washing towels and linens together may seem like a fast way to get the chores done, both materials require different temperatures to be washed. Since it is more common for towels to come into contact with skin when it is damp, they should be washed in hot water to rid them of any bacteria that is left lingering behind. However, sheets do not need to wash in hot water and it may possibly damage the fabric if you do wash them in hot water.
Different Size Affects Drying Time
Towels and bedsheets are different sizes, which means that their drying time will be completely different. If your towels wrap around your sheets while drying, more than likely they will not dry completely, resulting in mildew and mold. In addition, if your towels are not able to properly clean and rub against other clothes during the washing process, then they are not getting properly clean.
If you are unsure whether you should wash and dry your towels and linens together, then checking the tags on them will help with learning how to properly clean and care for them.
