At Rise and Shine Cleaning Service, the journey began with a simple dream: Eric and Debbie Emms wanted to build a business that would allow them to work together while raising their six incredible kids in Portland, Oregon. They wanted to create a service that would offer peace of mind to busy families by providing a consistently clean and welcoming home.
Their vision was clear: Rise and Shine Cleaning Service would be a reflection of the values that defined their family—integrity, teamwork, and always doing your best. They wanted to offer a level of customer service that made every client feel like part of the Rise and Shine family, where quality, trust, and care are at the heart of every service.
Since founding Rise and Shine in 2014, Eric and Debbie have always known that everything starts with their culture. They believe that happy, well compensated employees, who are aligned in purpose and motivated to do their best work, create outstanding experiences for their clients. By providing comprehensive training and cultivating an atmosphere of respect and support, they’ve built a team that reflects the same values of excellence and integrity that Debbie and Eric set from the very beginning. Eric and Debbie’s commitment to family, quality, and service has only deepened over the years, especially as they’ve navigated their own cancer journeys. Their experiences have shaped the heart of Rise and Shine, strengthening their resolve to give back to the community. As they faced health challenges together, they found healing in supporting others. Through their partnership with Cleaning for a Reason, Rise and Shine donates free house cleanings to anyone battling cancer, a cause close to their hearts. They know how difficult it can be to face a cancer diagnosis, and they’re proud to offer their services as a way to provide peace of mind and support to cancer warriors on their path to recovery.
Today, with their two youngest kids now seniors in high school, one attending Oregon State University, and the three oldest making their way in the world—Eric and Debbie continue to pour their hearts into their work and community. Their business is a reflection of their journey: a commitment to making homes a sanctuary, supporting those who need it most, and creating a space where families can thrive.
