Prepping My Shed For the Spring Cleaning Season

It’s that time again! It’s time to clean and organize your home as well as make sure you have enough storage space for things you plan on storing away for another time. Your shed should be among those areas that need to be cleaned and organized. If you have planned on storing some stuff in your shed, then you must make sure that it is ready for storage.

Clear Out Unused Items

Taking a looking at the items you have stored before storing more stuff in your shed is definitely something that should be done. This will help you know what is broken or unused and these are the items that should be removed from your shed. If it is something that is broken or beyond repair, it should be thrown away or taken to a place of disposal and if you have items that are unused, either give them away or plan for a yard sale. Once your shed is cleared of all of the unused and broken stuff, you will be ready to store your new items.

Install Shelves

You will notice the difference in your shed if you install shelves in it. Shelves will clear your floor of any clutter or unused stuff that has taken over. You will also be able to have it more organized to walk around in. In addition, shelves will help you avoid misplacing your stuff.

Sweep the Floors and Cleanup the Spills

While the task of cleaning and organizing your shed is already a big one, sweeping the floors and cleaning up the spills will help you avoid dirt building up or spills damaging any newly stored items. It’s easy to push off cleaning up spills if they are hard to reach or aren’t damaging your floorboards but once you plan on organizing and putting new stuff in your shed, the spills should definitely be cleaned.

Keeping your shed organized may be a task that is easily overlooked but once you have cleaned out your shed, the feeling of great cleanliness and care will be restored.
