The Best Ways to Clean to Clean Out Your Microwave

With your microwave being one of the most used appliances in your kitchen, over time the dried food and grease will become hard to clean, a breeding ground for bacteria, and an unappealing eyesore. Without a thorough cleaning, you are at risk of your dirty microwave even becoming a fire hazard. However, different methods of cleaning your microwave will keep dried food and grease from building up bacteria and help maintain the appeal.

What to Do Before the Cleaning Process

In order to begin the process of cleaning your microwave, there are a few things that should be done before you start. First, you should make sure your microwave is unplugged before cleaning it. While it is unlikely that a plugged-in microwave could cause problems while cleaning, it is better to be safe than sorry. Another precaution to take is to be careful with the microwave glass plate. Without proper caution, the plate will break easily.

Clean With Baking Soda

Baking soda is the problem solver for just about everything. This also includes being used as a cleaner for microwaves. Being a natural deodorizer, baking soda is also good for cleaning dirt and grime out of microwaves. By mixing two tablespoons of baking soda with one cup of water and heating for five minutes, the dense liquid will break up the grime and kill bad odors. After wiping the glass and inside of your microwave down with the mixture, it will be clean and ready for use again.

Use Dish Soap For Tough Stains

Another cleaning method that will bring perfect cleanliness and freshness to your microwave is to use dishwashing liquid and water. Microwaving two tablespoons of dishwashing liquid and two cups of water on high for five minutes will soften grease and grime. Once the mixture is heated, you should let it sit for about 10 minutes to allow it to cool down. Afterward, clean the inside of your microwave’s ceiling, floor, walls, and door. With a good cleaning, all of your favorite snacks and meals can be heated up without the worry of dried old food falling into them.

Make Your Microwave Lemon Fresh

There is nothing better than the smell of fresh lemons in the air, especially when it is used to clean your kitchen. So, to get your microwave lemony fresh, start by cutting a lemon in half and squeezing the juice into a microwave-safe container. After squeezing all of the juice out, put the lemon halves in the container as well and mix them with the juice and one cup of water. Then, let the mixture heat for five minutes on high, and use a soft rag to clean the inside of your microwave with the mixture once it is done heating.

Keeping your microwave clean may be quite the task but it is well worth it. So, don’t microwave another late-night snack in your dirty microwave, when you can clean it to perfection. With a good method, you won’t be disappointed.
