12 Days of Cleaning Before Christmas

The holidays are back and your home is not holiday ready. The stress of getting your home prepared for your holiday guests can be a challenge, especially if your home has gone awry during the hustle and bustle of working and everyday life. Now that the holidays are right around the corner, getting your home clean is a priority. Preparing for guests with clean rooms and floors are preparations you should start on at least 12 days before the Christmas holiday, but figuring out what rooms need the most attention and where to start your deep cleaning will get you started with making sure your guests are comfortable once they arrive.

Clean the Mudroom and Front Closet

Once your guests arrive, the last thing you want to worry about is trying to figure out where to put jackets and purses. The strain of finding a designated area for all of the belongings of the guests can put a damper on the mood of the get-together. Making sure the mudroom or front closet of your home is clean before friends and family arrive is a perfect way to get ready for everyone’s coats and other outside belongings.

Prepare the Laundry Room

Cleaning off your shelves and cabinets will prepare you for getting ready for your guests. No matter what amount of laundry needs to be done, you will most likely have a load of laundry to do during the holidays. Your holiday laundry can either come from getting your clothes ready or cleaning linens. This is why you should also make sure you are stocked up with everything you need before the holidays and the guests arrive.

Deep Clean Your Kitchen

Even though some of your guests may not see the kitchen during their visit, it is always best to deep clean your kitchen during special occasions, especially if you plan on preparing meals for the holidays. Guests will feel appreciated and welcome if your kitchen is properly cleaned before they arrive. Wiping down the walls and cabinets as well as sanitizing your countertops tells family and friends you are ready for their visit.

Thoroughly Clean the Main Bathroom

A thoroughly clean bathroom will make your guests feel more at ease when visiting your home. Sanitizing the sink and counter along with scrubbing the toilet and tub clean does not only give an inviting feeling for guests but also tells them that your home is sparkling clean and they will not have to worry about any part of it being disgusting. This part of the room will more than likely put a smile on their face.

Make Your Dining Room Beautiful

The most important room of the night is the dining room. Before sitting down for your memorable Christmas dinner, making sure your floors are cleaned and mopped will be the best greeting for your friends and family. Providing enough seating at your elegantly set and clean table will also be a welcoming sign that your dinner party will be fun with plenty of memories.

While the stress of getting your home ready for family and friends can be tedious, the adoration your home will receive after it is clean will put a smile on your face.
