What Can I Do to Reduce the Dust in My Attic?

Is your attic dusty? A dusty attic can quickly become a dirty and dusty nightmare if it is not cleaned regularly. Clutter and dust can also attract pests and leave you with poor air quality. However, there are ways to reduce the dust in your attic and enjoy the air fervently. With a little cleaning your attic may even become your new favorite room in your home.

Get Rid of the Mess

If your attic has become cluttered with old furniture, boxes, clothing, or anything else that hasn’t been used for years, cleaning out the clutter will help eliminate the dust it has collected. For items that you don’t want to move out of the attic, you can place them neatly in a corner and cover them. If you have a lot of stuff that you don’t use, then separating them and deciding what you want to keep or give away will further help you cut down on the clutter and dust that has taken over your attic.

Seal the Air Gaps

Air gaps not only bring in dust but also pests. By caulking the gaps, you will prevent dust from coming in. Expanding foam will also help you fill the holes or gaps and can work great for holes after the installation of wires or plumbing work. In addition, sealing air gaps will extend the life of your insulation system in your attic.

Use a Microfiber Cloth

While it may seem like a duster will help get rid of the dust in your attic, it can actually be pretty useless. Using a feather duster or a cotton cloth will only push the dust around, while a microfiber cloth, made up of tiny wedges, will trap the dust and dirt. Another great tool to use to clean the dust out of your attic and remove the worry of dust taking over, is the synthetic duster. The synthetic duster will help remove dust without the concern of it being pushed around.

While dust may be a big pest that always finds a way inside of your home, exploring different ways to reduce it, will help keep down the worry of extreme buildup.
